Hi Brian! I just want to know how hard was it for you to write parts and recore for Love in Shadow, compared to What One Becomes and The Deal. Are you comfortable performing 20+ minute songs? Thanks!

Each record gets a little easier, partially because I’ve learned to wrap my head around the way Aaron writes, but also because we spend more time rehearsing the songs as a full band, as opposed to The Deal where I hadn’t even met Nick when I tracked my bass overdubs. And while all of our albums have unstructured improvised moments, Love in Shadow has more of the free-form jamming like the ones that made up the entirety of our collaboration with Keiji Haino. The songs are long but there’s a lot of breathing room in them.
