Every Record I Own - Day 314: Chaitanya Hari Deuter Kundalini Meditation
This was an impulse purchase recommended to me by the proprietor at Dandelion Records in Vancouver BC. I’ve done a lot of shopping at Dandelion over the last four years as it’s in the vicinity of SUMAC’s stomping grounds when we rehearse up north, and I guess the shop owner figured that the stack of Popol Vuh reissues I’d purchased from him meant I’d be hip to similar ‘70s German experimentalists dabbling in Eastern motifs. This bootleg was the first Deuter LP I picked up, and you can pretty much guess what it sounds like based on the cover image. If you want some hypnotic Terry Riley arpeggios imbued with Indian timbres, look no further.
Fun fact: this LP was dedicated to Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, the famous new age cult leader at the center of the Wild Wild West documentary on Netflix.
